Skipping fish
Yet another non finished game. I hope you will read to the end. This time, it's because i was learning more about modelisation and procedural mesh. First about the game then the fate i have for it (i'll keep it short).
Let's get start, there many things that need to b point out.
First and formost, the WEB build is broken. The water shader don't work in it so i highly recommand using a download version. Note that i didn't test any version aside the windows one. Sadly i didn't get how ot make mac_os and i was too short on time.
Another problems is that all fishs have the same hitbox, regardless of size. It made it a bit hard to catch large size fish. Aim at the center
The basics controls are:
Space is also use to hide cursor while escape show it. There no settings in the game
- WASD or arrow key to move
- Space or ctrl r to jump
- f or pagedown to drop fish
- Left mouse click to use horizontal swing
- Righ mouse click to use vertical swing
- Wheels to zoom out or in
- number key for inventory (above qwerty)
NOTE: There currently no UI for inventory. You have 9 slot, the 2 first are for the net that allow you to catch close fish and the fishing rod that allow you to take the far one. The fishing rode won't set fish in inventory, you the net after having fished a fish.
You need to jump in the second area to use the fishing rod. Since i didn't get to test before submition there many annoyance.
The goal is simple, complete the To do list, explore fish fish and throw them in the water to make them bounce (skipping stone but fish version). There are 4 area to get fish. I place some arrow to point those in the ocean, they arn't really visible at first so follow the arrow.
spoiler: the supper throw is done by double click. There is a timing to get, if you do get it, you throw harder. (work only for fish)
That should be all you need to know for the jam. I will update if i miss anythings else.
Now the fate of this game. The game was an idea i already got in mind before the jam but didn't get the courage to start and since it kinda close to the theme, i jump on the occasion to make a prototype. I would like to get feedback and would like to know if you really enjoy this idea or not. I will work on it regardless of result but better result give more motivation. But no sugarcoating, ht me hard with anythings you found anoying. I currently have quite a lot in mind like surfing, puzzle, mini-game, exploration, .... and many more. Feel free to share idea if you'd like, but i already have so much to do since i need to rework a lot of system that i made to work only for this jam, at the current state it's not scallable at all. Anyways hope you enjoy the game ^^
know bug:
- fishing rod don't work 100% of the time
- in the second area, the bait hit the wrong ground
- throwing seem weird sometime
